Location: There are multiple full time and part time roles available across North West Tasmania, travelling between our laboratories, clinics & PHN Hospitals in Burnie, Mersey, Rosebery and King Island, with ad-hoc travel to Hobart.

After winning a major contract for the Tasmania Health Service, we now have roles available across North-West Tasmania providing pathology services to public hospitals in this area.

Your Role As a Pathology Courier

As Pathology Courier, you will be responsible for the picking-up and transportation of Pathology Samples, Specimens, Blood/Blood Products X-rays, Vaccines and clinical waste, this will be across Medical Centres, Collection Centres and Hospitals, for delivery to our Laboratories.

You will be ensuring a safe and efficient process as you manage 30+ stops a day, playing a crucial part in providing quality health services to the people in our communities.

 

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Pick-up and delivery of Pathology Samples, Specimens, Blood/Blood Products X-rays, Vaccines and clinical waste to and from referring customers
  • Liaising between Referring Medical Practitioners, Medical Liaison Officers, Pathology Collectors, laboratory staff and hospital staff
  • Preparation and delivery of reports and stock control in main laboratory
  • Maintaining patient confidentiality and integrity
  • Following operating procedure to complete correct specimen coding documentation
  • Compliance and adherence with Policies and Procedures, Work Health and Safety Procedures and Quality Assurance processes

What Type of Person Will Be Successful

You will be an excellent driver, with a clean drivers license and great interpersonal skills as you liaise with multiple people in the business.

  • Valid open Australian driver’s license with an excellent driving record
  • Ability to work various shifts including rostered weekends and public holidays
  • Great interpersonal skills you will use to liaise with different stakeholders as well as strong written communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills, juggling multiple stops per day
  • Physical capability to be able to handle equipment weighing regularly up to 10kg -15kg
  • The ability to follow instructions and use initiative to make sound decisions
  • Previous courier experience is considered highly advantageous
  • Hold a working with Children’s Check or be willing to obtain one
  • You must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident or a New Zealand citizen, or hold a valid visa with permission to work

Requirements

  • Vaccine preventable disease evidence such as Hepatitis B is a requirement of this role
  • Other vaccinations based on location may be required / setting
